Due to inconvenient transportation and incomplete facilities, these summer resorts have been unknown to people for many years. On the Bamian Mountain in summer, there were only the indigenous people and their cattle and sheep.
In recent years, in order to make full use of summer resources, Longshan has taken multiple measures to improve infrastructure, such as road traffic, and village housing in Bamian Mountain Scenic Area, Rebala Scenic Area, and Wulong Mountain Grand Canyon.
By integrating summer vacation with sports, health, culture, etc., various cultural and tourism activities such as the Starry Sky Tent Festival, Cloud Cycling Race, and Country Music Festival have been held, attracting tourists from all over the world.
The distinct alpine grassland scenery, rich Tujia culture, and unique tourism resources have made leisure and summer vacations in Bamian Mountain increasingly popular. The popularity of the scenic area has also driven the development of local traditional animal husbandry and planting industries. A large number of agricultural products such as “Bamianshan roasted whole lamb”, “Bamianshan pig”, “Bamianshan radish” are favored by tourists.
In addition, villagers in the Rebala Scenic Area have boosted their income by opening homestay inns, farmhouses, and small shops. More and more villagers return to their hometowns to start businesses, and traditional culture can be better inherited. National intangible cultural heritage projects, such as “Xilankapu” (a type of Tujia brocade) and “Tujia Daliuzi”, which are full of ethnic minority styles, showcase the unique cultural customs of local villages.
